One of my very own little pleasure is to design posters for the Imagine Science Film Festival (New York). It’s been three years now (2008, 2009 and 2010) and it is a peculiar work to try to find new ideas for the exact same subject. The first year, my work wasn’t actually selected.
2010′s ISF poster was based on the idea of X-raying a film-maker, trying to dissect who the magic happens. On the other hand, I also wanted to depict the power of the imagination, transposed as the universes and its thousands of stars.

Le fruit d’une collaboration entre Alexis Gambis et Tany, à Paris l’été dernier a donné lieu à un moyen métrage: Le dernier été des sciences. Le film étudie la psychologie d’un scientifique new-yorkais qui cherche des réponses à un mal-être professionnel dans son enfance passée à Paris. “Le dernier été des sciences” n’est pas un documentaire.

L’album dont est tirée la bande originale du film est disponible là; l’artiste est David Franck Keller et l’album est “A Long Way From Minneapolis”.

Modern Love Science Fare

Here is the first painting by Tany, using oil instead of acrylic paint. It was made for Alexis in Paris by the artist and is 50cm by 50cm.

In the background, on a white board is written:

Life is a Sexually Transmitted disease.

A Scientist is holding a condom in his right hand. His head is printed on a copy of the FT. In front of him, cut out from FT headlines, is pined down the sentence:

Underneath the “End” word taken from the original print is written “human rights”.

Another short movie by Alexis Gambis. A continuity exercise: no break in time or space.

Red lyden uncovers the mind of a troubled boyfriend who sinks into his memories of his recently disappeared girlfriend in his New York midtown apartment. The film takes on an eerie atmosphere reminiscent of David Lynch’s 80’s TWIN PEAK series as we notice a man silhouette staring outside of his window apartment. The colors of faded red and blue set a tone of nostalgia and lust murder; the silence creeps under your screen.

Here is a new video by Alexis – one of our latest DejaVu Production Crew members – and we are really proud to present this short film. This sensual black and white video, animated by Nat King Cole’s irresistible Spanish tune “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas”, was filmed in 2007 in New York.

“Un ange à la maison” is a short film inspired by Wim Wender’s “Ailes du desir” (Sky over Berlin) and especially the scene of the two angels – Damiel et Cassiel – at the library. An angel decides to entertain his dull morning routine with a séance of camouflage as he changes appearances in his basement flat while performing his morning chores.
